Can anyone advise me on whether I can mix Shimano 105 5700 (10sp)shifters with Shimano 105 5600 (10sp) chainset & front/rear mechs? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

yes you can, no problem.
Shimano is mix and match as long as the same speed.

Yes you can, although I found the braking worse with 5600 calipers and 5700 levers, better with 5700 calipers but not as good as full 5600 I would think it is to do with under bar tape routing.

Also it is defintely smoother changing when you are running 100% 5700. I ran a mix of 5600 and 5700 for a good 2000 miles without any problems.

Thanks to all of you for your advice. I've yet to source a set of 105 shifters to go with the rest of the parts. Keeping a track on Ebay but just wondered if anyone knows of another route. Cheapest I've seen them is from Shinybikes.com @ £146 +pp.
