Awesome: now that the dial goes up to 11, that's like, 10% faster ;-)

The chainset looks like it'll lose some of the weight gained on the cassette by having a 4 arm spider. Aesthetically I like the current one with the silver band that goes across from pedal to opposite point on the chain ring, but function before form. The rear dérailleur looks redesigned too. I wonder if it is actually different, and if the width of the cassette is larger, which would be difficult without changing the dropout width. If the cassette is the same width then wouldn't a standard dérailleur work fine, unless the pull ratio is different,Increasing the pull per sprocket would make more sense to improve accuracy with shifting over smaller distances...... Think I need more info!

10 (possibly) 9 speed is optimal in terms of chain life and performance/usability.

Glad I'm buying a Di2 bike soon with good old 10 speed

It's getting to the point of being utterly pointless. It's a bit like Gilette adding more blades to their razors every year, but they still haven't designed a device to stop you cutting yourself.

It looks like 11 speed will need new hubs for shimano wheels. Looks like you may get away with it on other makes - e.g. Mavic, due to the spacer. One will have to see when it surfaces.
