Isn't it 2300, Sora, Tiagra, 105, Ultegra, Dura-Ace? For road that is.

Then each group has ascending numbers, i.e. 105 5600, then 105 5700 last year.

2300 has replaced 2200, but some old stock bikes are still using 2200. 2300 is pretty scarce at the mo. It's relaible 8 speed stuff though. Square taper cranksets steel chainrings

Sora is now 9 speed (3400 Series) Comes with external bearing cranksets.

Tiagra 9 speed (4500 series) Tiagra 10 Speed out 2012 (4600 Series)

105 is now 5700 series (I have the older 5600)

Ultegra (6700 Series)

Dura Ace and Di2 (electronic shifting) top out the range

Yeah, but Campag is that left-hand drive Italian stuff, I'm sticking with the Jap's on this one

I'm just about to finish a bike equipped with all 105 5600 parts, how are you finding it in use?

I've had it on my roadie for 2 years now with no probs. Took me a while to set up with getting the correct cable tension on the shifters, they were a bit stiff to start with.

Brakes are nice and powerful, better than the tektro stuff on my other bikes.

Compact 34/50 chainset gives plenty of range with a 12-25 cassette.

i asked the opinion of lbs who stocked both, and he reckons that level for level, there's no great difference in quality etc either way.
