Anyone got a view on this gadget - it would obviate the need to take a chain whip etc?

It is designed by Holland's premier frame builder and bike tech guru. It works really well. I would still use a chain whip at home, but for on the road this is the one to have. It weighs next to nothing.

I have the oppisete experience - may have been the shape of my chainstays - but I can't see how

They work nicely. It's all you need, except for the spare spoke and spoke key.
If you have your bike maintained in a shop, it's probably best to refit the lockring with a chainwhip & remover at home before setting off on a tour, just in case the bloke at the shop is a gorilla.
