I'm sad because the BBC have axed Shooting Stars. I know it is an old format, but so is Have I got News for You. TV is fully of generic panel shows at the moment, and Shooting Stars stood out as a beacon of comedy irreverance.

I am a big Vic and Bob fan, but can understand why some people don't find their style of comedy funny.

What do others think of the great Vic and Bob?

My favourite moment...

I briefly watched Shooting Stars but I never quite got what people saw in Vic Reeves, his humour passed me by and his radio show was unexciting.

I wouldn't venture an opinion normally but you did ask

yep, not a fan here, the funny bits can be very funny but most of the time it just misses. But what do I know, the least funny bit was always Matt Lucas and look at the success he went on to have.

I've loved everything Vic and Bob have done since the first Big Night Out. Went to see them in the early 90's at the Dome in Doncaster. Brilliant live as well as on TV.

I always felt that Shooting Stars had far more hits than misses, but the very nature of their brand of commedy will always produce duff jokes as they push the boundary of what is funny. Their other stuff like Big Night Out and Smell or Reeves and Mortimer had more misses than Shooting stars did and was often a curate's egg.

The finest Shooting Stars moment has to be the "Larry Hagman Rabbit Caught in Headlights" moment. Clearly his agent had booked him onto the show without him or Larry having the slightest clue as to what they were letting him in for. Never seen anyone looking so lost and confused on telly. Except the taxi driving IT guru on BBC News.

Once Mark Lamarr left it was never the same and should also have never come back after such a long break.

Shooting Stars was always a bit hit n miss, but at least it was different and original. I much preferred it to the generic "comedy" panel shows with comics trying to out-clever each other with their rehearsed ad libs.
Vic and Bob have had a ground breaking career, often paving the way for more "popular"/mainstream acts and shows.
I'd say their greatest work was the "Catterick" series.

Vic Reeves' humour hasn't really changed since I used to drink with his alter ego, Rod (no-one knew him as Jim Moir) Moir in the Green Dragon in Darlingtonback in the 70s/80s. He disappeared to London then resurfaced years later on TV. He's a Marmite character - you love him or hate him.
