Shorts and cream

Because of a recent operation on my saddle area ive Just been to my lbs to buy some padded shorts, ended spending a bit more than I anticipated but was sold them as they are the 'best product' for that price range, Endura 600 series 3d. I was also sold some assos chamois cream. Two questions, are my new shorts as good as I was lead to believe? And also as I never knew creams were available did I really need to buy the cream?

The creams are great - chafe? What chafe?

3-d chamois is pretty damn good, so I think some good choices all around.

I also bought a similar cream -udderly smooth - and have to say I don't notice any difference when riding. I can tell it does something as my fingers feel smooth after putting it on but I can do a 5 hour creamless ride without any problems.
