I had one of the Cannondale windproof tops too
SWMBO wearing it here, probably at some point in the early-mid 90s (with her brother)
They look like the benches in Roundhay Park, so it must have been the Monday evening Track-League?

Pictured here, with a pair of SIDI trainers!!!
Again, both are early 90's

I remember Mrs PP commenting that my rather nice linen suit trousers were looking a bit thin. I carefully explained that linen was quite a thin lightweight cloth, and not as opaque as wool. You can probably see where this is going. I was working away at the time and was about to leave my hotel room to go out to a work do in central london one evening and sure enough ripped the my actually rather worn trousers. I tended to travel light on work weeks away and hence didn't have a spare pair of trousers, nor did I want to buy a mediocre pair from m&s. Spent 40 minutes, sewing up this great rent across one arse cheeck before going out. They saw the week out OK though.

[QUOTE 5117562, member: 9609"]It's been a long night working on the sewing machine, but it looks like I will be decent the morrow. Stiched a big bit on the inside then tidyed up with a stich round the hole - harley street had better watch out ^_^

Everything was black and purple in the early nineties, including my Pace windshirt.

Had to chuck out a GAP sweatshirt last summer on account of the fraying round the cuffs and neck.

I was outraged. It was one of my favourite shirts, and I'd only had it since 1985.

Similarly - I had just started out in my legal career & my Dad gave me an old three-piece blue pinstripe suit which he had outgrown round the tum. I was very pleased with it and it was probably over 20 years old.

Entering court one day carrying an archive box full of lever arch files, I bent down to put them on the floor and ... rrrrrrrrrriiiipppppppppp!

The tired cotton stitching up the back completely gave way all the way from the crotch almost to the waistband.

Exit trainee solicitor stage left, walking backwards...

It's typical of things today!

I bought a model railway controller in 1977, it blew up in a cloud of smoke in 2005. For some reason the firm that made it had long gone bust. No wonder if things only last 28 years!
You should have bought Rovex!
Mine from the 60's still works.

It was an early simulated weight controller for N gauge. Very sophisticated piece of kit for 1977. It must have seen 1000s of hours of use, so I'm still happy that I bought it. I now have a mixture of controllers but A Gaugemaster DS is my main one. The thing with Gaugemaster is they gaurantee for life. I had a query last year about the controller's suitability for the new coreless motors and they got back to me in under an hour to tell me I was fine with it. That's customer service in spades.
