I bought the frame as a treat for myself after a herni op several years ago...to give me something to look foward to riding again and to build-up in the meanwhile. Anyhow, usual story, I ran out of money halfway thru it and it's been sitting in the garage since.

Finally, I got around to building it up. I am hoping it will serve as a practical all-rounder (tourer/off-roader/commuter) as I'm going to be limited to 1 bike due to space very soon.

Obviously not quite finished. I'll give it some rides and tweak the bar setup etc. It will probably get some SKS guards on it and Brooks bartape.

PS it's my first drop-bar bike, if anyone has any comments on the position of the bars/levers/etc, feel free.

For aesthetic reasons I would do the following:

Flatter stem
Level saddle
Drops of bars parallel to the top tube (from side view)
Hood of levers creating a level surface with the tops of the bars (side view again)
Remove the silly reflector on the front wheel
I agree re brown Brooks bar-tape

However the most import thing is being comfortable so feel free to ignore all of this

I think they're lovely bikes by the way. Enjoy. Please post pics again when you have completed the above changes

Ta for the input !

The bike was running about as a hybrid with riser bars for a while, so why I lopped off too much steerer to start and the seat is nosed-up. I got already just pottling up and down the drive the nose-up does not work so well with the less upright position. The wheel reflecters are a bit superfluous with the strip on they tyres I will admit (yes and I realise not everyone gets on with them aesthetically). I'll give shifting the levers and drops about a go. Yes already looking forward to riding in anger!

After having done one or two 20milers on road and the local trails just a few first thoughts...

The frame is probably too big. I think Singular have reduced the size of the L frames since I bought one, but this has a 59cm TT. Not sure why I bought it this size originally but it feels stretched on the hoods and the stem is already quite short. Hrmmm...bugger

Also the stropping power on the BB7s is a little disappointing - not too bad from the crosstops, but from the STIs not so good.

On the plus side. I really like the plush ride of the fat tyres and 29 wheels. It's more comfoy for trail riding than my 26" hardtail by a long shot. And possibly novelty factor, but I really enjoy ride offroad with the drops - especially the downhills! The whole thing of drop barred, 29ers with SS etc - every wierd thing - seemed a bit of a fad to me, but I totally get the drop bar thing now. Now can I be bothered to go thru the hassle of downsizing the frame...
