Ta chaps

It's not been tried in anger yet. When I built it I went for a plod down the road and the gear cable snapped about a foot from the shifter and had no spares

I got another yesterday and just had quick spin around the woodland tracks at the top of my street. I may sound slightly biased but it is brilliant. The tyres were fitted because I'm waiting for some 2.0s to arrive, these are 2.35 but don't half soak up the bumps, especially with the steel frame. It is still very nimble and surefooted even on those tyres.

The only thing I'm not too happy with are the north road bars. They just don't feel quite right. I may go to drops but that means buying new cable discs and I want to use these xt hydraulics. My lbs are supposed to be sorting me some Nitto Albatross bars but I've heard nothing yet. I could always stick some flats or risers on in the meantime. I may be changing the 44t for something a little easier off road. It's having some Marathons fitted soon and is going on a road trip with a light load, I intend to give it some stick!!

Overall amazing bike. Superb finish on the frame I just hope it stays that way!!

Can't wait for the winter weather now, studded tyres ready

and no I'm not taking the mudguards off!!

Back of the line Longers. I wanted it first.

djb you're a brave man running a 44t chainring off-road. I don't think I could cope with a 32!

Had a proper ride last night.

Went through Keele woods in the dark and loved it. The frame is really comfy and absorbs all of the bumps and chatter, the fork is gives a very plush ride. It handles very well and turns on a sixpence.

I also like its road manners, again very stable and comfy. I'm tempted to buy another and use it for touring and keep this as a crosser full time. I doubt the wife would approve though!!

Nice build - are those 26" wheels in there? Not seen anyone do that before... If you can send me some pics I'd like to get them up in the gallery.

Hi Sam,

Yes they are 26's using a riser bar and hydraulics. It's gone through 3 set ups so far and I've settled with drops. The 26's work perfectly, they're almost the same size as 700c when measured so there's no issues of pedal strike etc.. I'm going to get another peregrine later this year when stock arrives and use it as a flat bar crosser. I will contact you when in regarding paintwork ;)

I'm off next week so I'll get a few pics and send them over to you. It's also had carbon risers and other bits after this build but it now has compact drops and bb7s.

Still wanting the Osprey to go ahead or maybe the Ti pegasus:biggrin:
