Hi all - I'm looking at paying around 1K for a bike capable for touring and day to day.

Leaning towards the Cube as it's a 14MY but advice would be much appreciated. Anything else I should be looking at?

Rose make a range of trekking bikes similar in style to the Cube you are looking at.

Th entry level Black Creek is good spec for £1K - decent lights, and carrier, Ergon grips and bar ends, pavement lock, and the Speedlifter quick release adjustable stem for raising and lowering the bars.

Rose bikes are nicely made, cables internally routed and a paint finish as good as any.

Lots of other trekking bikes on the site if you fancy hub gears, belt drive or a different frame style.

I've just ordered the BMC, it's dropped another £200 odd quid in the last few weeks!
