Shaun - he's also linked to BikeRadar

I think a stern word is called for ;)

I know I waffle on a bit on my blog, but at least I'm waffling on a lot of the time about rides I've done with fellow CycleChatters!

I started off (like many of us) on the old C+ forum which mutated into BikeRadar, which is how I ended up there. There were rumblings of discontent with that (which I can understand) and many of my cycling pals ended up here on CycleChat and recommended it to me, so that's how I ended up here.

I still visit BR but I prefer CC. The only reason I still go back to BR is that a few diehards I know have decided to stay there and I want to keep up with them.

Since we are on the subject of blogs - make sure that you take a look at those of trio25 and RedBike - what those two get up to is very inspiring (they are obviously totally obsessed with their cycling, but in a nice way! :becool:).

PS The Google Ads were an experiment. I don't like them and will be turning them off soon and replacing them with hand-picked ads for things I like. I just can't stop Google displaying dodgy ads for weight loss surgery, diet pills etc.

well done colinj. it's not as if all cycling forums are in competition with each other. i prefer this place to yacf and bikeradar, but that's not to say a change of scenery is sometimes welcome.

I wonder why people make such a big deal about Bikeradar. I personally don't like the forum interface but that is about it. The topics are good and if you only like cycling topics then, in my opinion, BikeRadar is better than CC as there is less of "pointless topics".

Oi - I'm not pointless!

I think the laddishness has been getting a bit out of hand over on BR recently and I'm glad that Shaun has been clamping down on it here on CC.

The thing is (even if you exclude the non-cycling posts here) I reckon that there is more going on at CC than there is on BR despite that forum being many times the size of this one.

I was getting far more CC members coming out on my rides than people off BR so I stopped mentioning my rides over there.

It's all history now, but BR was a bit of a PR disaster due to some rude and objectionable types on the other forums that were merged to form Bikeradar, also the technical improvements promised failed to materialise as the site went off at half cock with many teething problems.
These were some of the reasons for the ill will at the time, but as you suggest, I'm sure it is fine over there now since settling down with an influx of new members.

Also, "radar" sounds like you're about to be hunted down and shot by a missile, whereas "chat" suggests, tea, cake, slippers and a warm fire. And fruit cake. Or maybe jaffa cakes.

Thanks for pointing out a few details about Bikeradar that I had no knowledge of. The interface, at least for me, is something very important and Bikeradar's interface is way out of date. However, I do enjoy reading threads now and then though.
