I have used slime and TyreWeld-type sealant on MTB tyres in the past, and I've found it useful for saving walks. I didn't try to patch the tubes, though, I only ever replaced the tubes when I replaced the tyres, so it must have been pretty good.

I think the pressure comment from cyberknight is spot on, though I have no experience of using it in a road tyre as I wouldn't even try it in a tyre which needed 100-odd psi.

I tried one in the back wheel the my mtb-Its used it for ferrying the young one around on the cycleseat and even mild x-country with him. I got fed up with rear punchures and its a complete pain to fix by yourself on a schedule and guard a child at the same time. anyway I tried the green ones and so far so good, oks its heavy and you can feel the wheel imbalance above 20mph but that s almost worth it for the peace of mind.

Friend of mine swears by them, I tried them and swore at them!

Mine were also the cheapo Bikehut jobbies though, whereas he was using the Slime branded ones.
