Do I radiate a sense of slowness? When I'm sat at a red light in lycra bib shorts, ss top and on a racing bike am I effectively saying "See those lights, when they change to green, you've seen glaciers move faster than me so tell you what, you just struggle to get round me on your mtb so you can park your a**e in front of me. Then when the lights change, take your time. There's no rush. It's not like I've got trucks and cabs right behind me. You just pedal as slowly as you like". MUPPETS!!!!

And as for the guy who hopped off his bike at every red light and then ran with it across the junction and hopped on again at the other side, I accept you didn't break the law but boy it looked hard work. And I was still overtaking you again within 500 yards, I'd just PEDAL QUICKER!!!!

Right that's this morning's rant over with. I was in such a good mood when I left the house!

Filterers who wriggle their way in front of another road user at junctions and then hold that person up are unaware or uncaring of the needs of others. It matters not whether the person they've passed has 50 feet or 50 miles of empty tarmac in front of them.

It is something of a disease in London. I'm not shoot-from-stick quick myself, but I still find myself getting held up.

I don't mind it at all, but I can see how it might get to someone who is clearly pretty quick.

There's that whole traffic-light thing (reminding me of moto-courier days) where cyclists check out the 'competition' and try to get off the light on the 'R' of Red, whilst looking totally casual and giving it the absolute beans at the same time.

I find it intoxicating and addictive, but there is room also for annoyance.

But... If those filter-then-delay folk would only RLJ, they wouldn't hold us up. If you're going show poor manners, why not compound it with an RLJ as well?

I'm back! Yippeee
people amaze me they are indeed uncareing of the feelings of other ! though to my dismay i found that they are all to concerned about there own, when after haveing the same guy do exactly the same actions ie push in frount and set of to have me pass him then at the next lights ditto, i asumed he was setting himself up so i could hold onto his saddle and take a pul sort of keron style, BOY WAS I WRONG!!!! he got ever so cross

They tend to be the same people. RLJ when it is only pedestrians to bother, push to the front when it would be suicidal to RLJ.

Yes... in London that is generally so. It brings a wry smile, but isn't yet a hanging offence in my book.

But there are YouTube clips posted by AngryCam Warrior Cyclists who've done the very same thing to cars and then got shouty at the car for having the temerity to mirror-brush them at walking pace when the light goes green.

It's the same mindset, whichever variety of road user does it to whichever other.

A racing bike covered in crap, and no aero dynamic arm-warmers, no wonder they don't take you seriously!

Im the other way round. On the morning commute, I always catch a guy on a Road bike up on the same stretch of road; I'm on the loaded hybrid. He ALWAYS has to get in front of me at the traffic lights, and then takes ages to build up any kind of reasonable speed. Now I'm also not that quick, prob average 17mph ish on this particular stretch of road. So I overtake and next set of lights same things happen.

Doesnt bother me though, its kind of nice overtaking (at 17mph) a full lycra clad roadie. Mwahahaha!

What annoys me at traffic lights are the cyclists that are compelled to push in front of double decker buses or lorries with no regard for their safety, whilst sensible cyclists stay behind the larger vehicles.

When the lights change the bus pulls away really slowly because it has to overtake a number of slow cyclists.

This is a deeply entertaining pastime, almost an art form in how to look totally unfussed by something so absolutely serious.

This is something i've never understood, but can explain why cyclists get left hooked on occassion.

I was always taught to stay in place in traffic at lights (in primary as it's called now), there is no point squeezing your way up the inside of car etc to get to the front of the lights to then have the cars struggle to pass you, especially if they may turn left across your path.

Now if the traffic is stuck in a queue that's a different matter but again I would proceed with extreme caution as the possibility of getting crushed or hooked is a very high possibility.

i saw a commuter on a full sus mtb undertake a large churngold waste lorry at lights then sit in his blind spot at the front on his left hand side. the driver was in the lane to go left on the roundabout (traffic light controlled one) i could see the driver so got the drivers attention and pointed out the fool which got a friendly wave from him.
