Kind of glad I wimped out of cycling in today. I got up, looked out of the window and saw really, really heavy rain. I just wasnt in the mood for it.

Secondly, as I peered out I saw a van shoot past at some considerable speed. Now this was before 6am still, it was quiet, however it was p***ing down and a van going over 60 will not stop on a hare. (Or whatever the old saying is)

Then I took a bus home from work and saw 4 cars. All of them totalled. One was a taxi smashed to bits just after the petrol station in the city center after the Northam Bridge here in southampton. The whole roof had been flattened.

It really did make me feel sick seeing that. I think theres been a serious drop in driving standards here in recent weeks and part of me really wasnt suprised, though I hope the occupants of each car were fine.

Stay safe, stay lucky peoples!

Edit: Papers reported it, though missed out the other cars:

Was fun cycling in in the rain yesterday. I haven't really noticed any worse driving than normal recently, but maybe I've just been lucky. That and so impressed that Athelstan Road has been resurfaced at last.

Unfortunately in the car today as bike in need of some tlc so need to finish work early enough to get to a bike shop for parts so I (husband) can get bike fixed this evening so can be back on it tomorrow (had husband laughing down the phone at me last night when I phoned him for a lift due to breakages, although he did come and get me - really need to learn some better maintenance skills)

I tend to commute at 6.50am and just before the rush hour starts when coming back so I avoid the massive traffic jams. This seems to free people up to drive like wollies at these times.

Good ride in today to be ruined by two knob head cab drivers tonight.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother with complete morons like these two about.
