I've just booked a train from Lourdes to Toulouse Matabiau station, and the collection method is "collect from automatic ticket machine". How does this work? Do I just present my credit card and enter the booking code that was emailed to me?

Regards & thanks,

--- Victor.

Someone will come with a SNCF answer in a minute, but in the UK, it means you go to any ticket machine at the station, click the "collect ticket" button on the touch screen, enter the booking code, put in the credit card, and ticket pops out.

Also in the UK, it works at other stations than the one you pre arranged (which was lucky as the machines at the prearranged station was behind locked barriers), and I think any card will do.

I'm "sure" it's the same in France ... but... I've been wrong before.

TL;DR: Yes

Having done this numerous times at French stations IIRC you just enter the code on your booking, and surname - and the tickets pop out. Worst case, go to the ticket office window and give them the code and they'll print the tickets for you.

Don't forget that you have to "compost" your ticket(s) by sticking it in the yellow stamping machine on the station before you board at the start of each journey - you could be fined for a non-composted ticket. [It stamps a date and time -- to avoid the ticket being used twice I assume]
