Also we actually made the effort to fit lights unlike today's rabble.

Ha! Yes, in my previous incarnation as a younger cyclist, I'd have told you to stop being silly if you had suggested fastening a light on with just a rubber band.

Then again, with things like the 1kg each (or thereabouts) Duracell D-Cell lockable lights that were about 6" x 4" x 3", it would have needed some rubber band!

On and off since 1982 depending on what I was doing at the time and the practicalities of it.

The lights were rubbish and I didn't wear hi-viz...really weird...but I think the traffic was better behaved in those days.

Look what we have today Superflash LED rear lights and still people can't be bothered...or perhaps they haven't the money....but I managed when i was younger to always have lights.

I started commuting properly in the early 90's,had a little break towards the end of the decade by doing that stupid thing of driving ! Got back into it again properly about 6 years ago and now my garage is free of cars and now home to a fleet of cycles ! I am now up to three bikes, kids make up another three plus on child buggy, the "boss" has a mint Townsend which i think has been ridden 4 times in the 14 or so years we have owned it ! I would not want to travel any other way due to the ammount of congestion, cost of running another car (we still have our 7 seater bus) plus i am keeping nice and healthy !

You're allowed a Skoda with them having started making bicycles and all

Commuting since Feb '10 - planned to do so 6 months earlier but left work for 10 months. Now back and cycling 3 days a week (my work schedule).

In that time I have driven 6 times, 3 times being last week whilst family was visiting  im usually good! Just got a new "wet weather" bike that will be kitted out in full guards etc for the worst.

Looking forward to getting back on a 5 day week

Oh no !! sussed !!! No Skuds i'm afraid but i still keep an eye on my previouse life before kids ! Good times though and will proberly take the herd over to Czech next year for a road trip.

Got my first bike in 1970, tenth birthday present. Used it to ride to school and the stables where i helped out. When i left school i commuted to the stables for about 3yrs, the next chunk of time was spent doing seasonal work so the round trips ranged from 1/2 mile- 20 miles a day. The last 21yrs has been a minimum daily round trip of 15.82 miles but i do have a variety of different routes, my favourite is the off road one.
I've loved every mile of my cycling even in the bad weather.

Only been cycling in since Feb this year. 8 miles each way, but I have been upping that and trying to do around 12 each way. I absolutely love cycling. For me I would even go as far as to say it has been life changing. I have got fitter, lost weight and I love cycling a lot. Started going to the Velodrome in Herne Hill too back in April and have done some longer rides here and there. On the weekends I wake up and think where shall i cycle today. I've even got to the point where I am doing some of my friend's heads in as all I seem to talk about is cycling lol.
