It's so sad to hear about yet another cyclist dead or injured - and even sadder to think that reckless drivers won't give a s**t anyway.
RIP.

it really is sad..

Yup, dont know the facts yet, but the drivers being prosecuted from what ive been told... its a fast stretch of road but ive never thought it was too dangerous..

Note the sloppy reporting: "cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene after _hitting_ a burgundy Honda CR-V" which implies the cyclist was to blame, which is not supported by any facts in the article. I've pointed this out to the paper.

From a borough website, it says the road is a 40 limit, or just reduced to 40 recently:

I wonder how a 40mph limited road can be a fast stretch?

Sure that section isnt part of the above. Its a 50mph limit. What I get close to coming down hill, but not the other way around, its a proper slog that way, the way they were going..

The report does say both travelling from xx to xx so suggests same direction.

Another bad story.

I was going to leave it as I always feel uncomfortable soapboxing on a thread about a road death, but I spotted the language as well.

I've had a few more close calls this week and i guess it will get worse with the evenings (and mornings) getting darker

Sometimes its actually better, bright sunlight can actually be the worst as drivers (and cyclists) get blinded by it, half light, i.e. dawn or dusk can be bad but complete darkness with appropriate lighting is probably the time when you are most visible, vertainly on my rural-ish commute, in town though I am not so sure.
