It does not matter,if it's 48" 52",Wall mounted,on a table, on legs,curved, flat.HD wide screen,surround sound.Manchester United still won't score on it.

They look good but there is just not enough content just now, sometime down the line it will be worth it but by then the TV quality will be much better. When HD started to take off the TV's aged very quickly, same will probably be true of the UHD ones.

Got one las autumn, but only cos it was in a sale. No one broadcasts in 4k yet, and even if they did the wife is partially sighted so.I'm not sure it'll ever get exploited in my house!

I'm no connoisseur but it otherwise seems no different to the tv it replaced, except for being 2" smaller (48").

There was something on the other day... One of those rubbish comparisons where they only had 3 basic, middle and high. They seemed to think it was worth going for 4K but not a super duper model, as for the extra cost you could buy a separate speaker system, and not to bother with the curved stuff.

I was only watching it, as I have two males in my family who I have to prevent from going out and spending lots of money on the TV, especially as neither of them watch it very much!

We've just got one, a portable at only 40", there's virtually bugger all to put on it at the moment but maybe in a few years, future proofing. We bought it from an independent shop (where we bought the last one about 10 years ago), he said don't bother wth curved as its a gimmick. SD looks great although we took off the fancy infill screen setting as it made the picture look rubbish (can't remember what it's called). We bought a sound bar too which sounds fantastic.

Id hang on for a bit - the Industry is trying to push out 8k televisions - Once these pointless pieces of tat (at time of posting) have gone into full production and everyone who smells a wine glass of their own fart on a regular basis goes out to richer sounds to pick one up, 4k TVs should drop in price exponentially.
Our telly is on the blink and we are going to buy a new one, but the market seems be be switching to UHD TV now. Has anyone actually got one? Do they look rubbish for normal SD? We only want to spend about £800-900 Max, and only want a 48 " screen maximum. We mostly watch Netflix, which has some 4K content available now, and UK Freesat and the catchup channels (HD and SD) plus a few blurays and DVD rips. If you read things like WhatHiFi it's the usual cut and paste from a press release drivel, but I prefer people's actual experience. If it will double as an extractor fan, that would be even better.
:wahhey:Some mags really spew out some crap don't they? Having said that, I still buy their mag when I need to buy something audio/video related. I'm a gimp.

I have to replace a TV. It's one of the original plasmas. Only reason I don't is I can't be bothered to find what bracket is required for the wall mount.

You might thing curved is new (or was that last years fashion dying out?) But curved was around when those CRT TVs were around. Only thing is they were curved the other way round (convex) which allowed more people to view it. Idk wth manufacturers what concave crap for.
