Right so I've had my Etrex 30for about 3 weeks I think, but I've only done a few rides.
On these rides I've used online mapping sites and downloaded to the unit and followed the trail like I did when I used the 500 breadcrumb trail....I.e., no turn by turn instructions.
So, I've tried using basecamp to covert the trail into a route.
Then on the Etrex itself chosen said route with the where to function.
Then I've chosen either on road for time or distance option for the route....the Etrex unit does one of two things...it either hangs at 80% ish or comes up with a mapping error message.
So how do I get this thing to work like a satnav?
I want to download an audax permanent into basecamp or to the Etrex as a GPX file and just have it navigate the route.
I've currently have the Bikefiets cycling map loaded and all the other map (the demo's it came with) switched off.
There is an awful lot on the web about the Garmin mapping algorithms but they go so in depth it drives me nuts.
