Hope you're ok mate. Things like that can really shake you up. Just remember that for every idiot, there are 1000s of decent people out there. Hopefully someone will catch him before he kills someone, as he'll likely do the same to someone else!

I would suggest that there are many more "idiots" as you call them driving on the roads then you make out. The roads are a dangerous place for cyclists. Until the hatred toward cyclists in this country ceases then this sort of thing will continue. Many people still see buzzing cyclists or attempting to knock them down, throw stuff at us, abuse us as fair game, almost a practical joke. It's not it is serious life threatening stuff, but the authorities/governmemt do not treat it seriously enough.

I completely agree with your points and don't want people to think that I was taking the incident lightly. Unfortunately you are probably right about there being more "idiots" (I still think that is a valid term as I can think of many may more terms that I don't want to lower the tone of this thread with) than I expect. I too have been knocked off by passing car (he did stop further down the road to see if I got up...but then drove off when he saw me getting to my knees so didn't catch his plate). However, there are many drivers every day who give me plenty of room, let me go when it is their right of way and have even stopped to see if I need help when at the side of the road dealing with mechanicals.
