Jonathan Dunne, who is originally from the US, says it was "difficult" to even get commuters to take one of the free pins.
Since when do we have 'pins' in the UK, pins are used in dressmaking not worn on your outer garments, is this just sloppy journalism again copying & pasting off the numb nuts website or publicity info?

It's not just Londoners

The last thing I would want is some randomer engaging me in conversation on my Glossop - Manchester train. Same if I go on a local bus, just don't talk to me.

I might have a chat on a long train journey like London - Manchester but only after some ice breaker situation has occurred like someone getting thrown off for having the wrong ticket or suchlike

I struggle to hear people when there's a lot of background noise, so my Metro commutes are usually done in silence.

I reckon the loudest system I've been on is Glasgow's clockwork orange. You could always tell when someone didn't know where the stops were as they'd be yelling into their phone/at their friend incredibly loudly for a couple of seconds before realising silence had descended.

Seems to be a homophobic slant to this post, people insinuating other people are gay & there being an issue with it, maybe it needs moving to SC&P

Well, thanks to you organising the Leeds to Scarborough ride which we did last Saturday, @Littgull and I ended up being given a very detailed breakdown of the carriage purchasing plans for the entire UK rail network, timetable variations, ticket prices etc. by a random stranger sitting opposite me. (Apparently, the reason why a lot of our local trains still run tatty old carriages made from single decker buses is that them Lundunners grabbed all the new properly designed ones!)

When he ran out of railway news, he fired up his iPad and started reading out all the football results!
