Something in the Air?

Was on a club run today (did my first 100 miles!!!) and there were a fair few idiots out there.

The worst was (during rush hour) going through Guildford, some Berk in an Audi decides to overtake 5 of us, with an on coming lorry and no room. I'm really surprised the guy made it - thankfully the HGV driver was paying attention and was ready to stop.

Had a few people overtaking the group on blind bends, close passes...and someone who wouldn't move over at all, or slow down, on a bit of singletrack (forcing us of the road).

The first one was really awful driving - I was testing my camera out this morning by took it off about 5 minutes before hand. Must of had about 5 or 6 people doing something really stupid.

Seemed like there must have been something in the air today!

All in all, did had a lovely ride. Even though it was my first 100 miles I feel quite awake still - hopefully I'll sleep well tonight!!

With that level of hassle might you start to consider [just for a second] whether the group of you were causing an obstruction and people were getting frustrated? [I wasn't there so it's not a criticism- I'll leave that thought with you....]

With all the geriatric drivers round here it's often the case that they've never had an accident, but they've seen hundreds....

Well, obviously we were causing an obstruction. We were cyclists and we were in front of them. However, we were provoking bad behaviour or being inconsiderate? Not in the slightest.

We pulled over quite a few times, got a big friendly wave and toot from a lorry driver. Same with other people.

If we had cycled 2 abreast and held primary positions all day we'd of probably worked a lot more people up and had less incidents.
