I let myself down yesterday.
I ran a red light at a 4 way junction. It was out of town, before 7am in the morning and the road directly to my left has been closed for the last few weeks, meaning that there would be no traffic crossing my path.
I went through slowly, looking to my right to make sure no-one was turning into my path from my right. The first 2 cars were turning in the opposite direction from me so I proceeded to jump the red light.
Car number 3 though was turning my way though. I was way past the junction when he pulled alongside me, had his window down and shouted something along the lines of "you'll get yourself killed etc etc" I gestured for him to pull over, which he did (in a layby) and we had a little chat.
His arguments (which were based on the fact he couldn't see me side on, he was sick of seeing cyclists jump red and his mates, who were cyclists were getting tarred with the RLD brush) were sound and there were no raised voices between us. We both listened to each other. I apologised, said not sure what came over me and it's not something I normally do.
We shook hands and went on our way.
Lessoned learned by me and reminded me that other road users perception plays a large part in road safety.
Feel free to throw rotten veg at me.
