We leave Jo'burg tomorrow morning on a bit of a Road Trip.

We're both taking our MTBs so that we can throw in some "away from home" cycling.

The general plan, subject to the usual changes due to unforeseen circumstances or our own whims, is to drive Jo'burg to Kimberley (5hrs) tomorrow and then stop for some lunch and sightseeing. Next drive into the Karoo towards Cape Town (3hrs) and in the evening look for a B&B for the night. There are so many its not an issue to find one. Thursday morning we carry on down to CPT (another 6hrs) stopping wherever we see something we want to look at. In CPT we stay with friends until early next week, visiting various friends and relatives locally and generally chilling out. When we leave CPT we will follow the coast road along the "Garden Route", again stopping willy-nilly, until we eventually reach Port Elizabeth. There we stay with more friends for a few days before heading north back to Jo'burg.

Driving distance is expected to be about 5000km.

Riding plan is to ride whenever we get the chance! Our CPT friends are going to take us riding in Stellenbosch and down to the Cape Point (where we've ridden the Cape Argus several times on road bikes) and our PE friends will take us out locally there too. Maybe we can find a few other places to ride in between :-)

The Argus is a great ride. Today I rode MTB out near Stellenbosch, through the wine estates. Beautiful countryside and scenery. There is so much riding to do in SA that there just aren't enough weekends!
