Not sure if this is the right place to post this put here is an article about stolen bikes in the Hampshire and Southampton Area:

It's strange that boys have been stealing women's bikes!

Have tried to dissuade a couple of scroats in the past. I'm not suprised. Shopping precincts and railway stations are all targets. All a good lock will do is either a) delay them or b) convince them to move to a less secure bike (or remove parts from a secure one).

The Police just need to catch the buggers really.

Actually, I'll add... its scoats like this who put off the good people from cycling. My workmate had hers nicked and it put her off for a year atleast. She actually prefers to get home in 5 minutes rather than walk for 20, so I think this was a big spur in her trying it.
