There's very little to see from Surat Thani up to Bangkok. If you're going to cycle that part I would say an overnight stop in Prachuap Khiri Khan is worthwhile, it's traditionally Thai with a few fishing boats moored up, there's also a temple on a hill, it's worth the walk up for the views and you will be accompanied by monkeys. From Prachuap your next stop could be Hua Hin or Cha-Am, they're pretty much joined but whereas Hua Hin is set up for the overseas market Cha-Am is more for the locals.
To be honest, if you put your bikes on the train and missed out that section you really wouldn't be missing much!
