Can anyone steer me towards the correct sizing of spanners, to work on pre-1960/70's bikes.
I have metric and A/F for modern cars, machine tools etc. but suspect bikes are probably different

British Standard Whitworth and A/F should fit most nuts and bolts from that era?

In the absence of a Whitworth set, if you have A/F and Metric available you might find that between them you have a spanner close enough to match most of the nuts & bolts and an adjustable will do the remainder.

That's what I found working on my old Morris 8 at least.

Thanks for the replies.
I tend be a bit of a fussy sod, so adjustables are something of a last resort for me.
Will be keeping a weather eye open for BSW stuff though!
