Someone recommend me some shoes for commuting. I have some road shoes already but they are smooth underneath and difficult to walk in.
I need some shoes that:
are easy to walk in (MTB)
are not chunky with bits all over them like most mtb shoes
will take spd cleats
No fancy colours or stupid looks
price £20 - £60
Fair well in the wet (dont gold water in, drain holes etc)

Thanks.

I wear Shimano RT51s. They're designed for touring so they're not as smooth as true road shoes, nor as chunky as MTB shoes. They take SPD cleats, cost less than £60 and come in a silver/grey colour.
The only drawback is that they aren't waterproof, but I overcome this by wearing neoprene overshoes in the wet.

I dont mind them not being waterproof, just so long as they dont hold the water in. I wear a waterproof sock anyway.
cheers , I will check those out.

Keep em coming.

the walking bit of the shoe is important when commuting, you never know when you might need to kick someones arse... or run away

I previously used Spesh Taho's for commuting I now use them for other leisure rides and wear a cheap pair I got from LIDLs (they were sub £20), they seem to do the job fine for me and meet your criteria. Like you though I tend to were waterproof socks too, so I've I can't really comment on their waterproofness.

Outside your price range but I got some of these at Christmas and they are absolutely excellent: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=22311

They are waterproof, the cleat is recessed enough that you don't feel it when you're walking and, most importantly of all, you don't look like you're wearing random dancing shoes when walking about. They keep my feet warm and dry and have been well worth the money!

I have Shimano M075 which are the MTB version of the R075, they have a chunkier sole and are ok to walk in, look fine to me too, black with a bit of silver - got them in a sale for less than £30.
The only drawback with them is when you're wearing them, they have M075 on one of the straps, and you look down the wording is upside down and it says 'SLOW'!!!!

Just got some Lake shoes from EBC (in the Sale) £40, but about £58 max retail - they are a small fit, so Spesh 43's are 44's in Lake...

Great, look like Road shoes. i.e. Race MTB - dead solid sole, red and black.... would look brill on my Ribble  ....... although I only use these on a blue bike !! -

Most of the Shimano SPD's are ace for walking. If just for commuting, go for the 'Touring Type'....the Lakes I got are off road type, but I'm eventually hoping my commuter goes back to off road duties..... fine for walking though, and booting cars if I need to....

Shimano double sided pedals (flat/SPD) and Aldi £20 shoes, six months and still fine, will get some more upmarket ones next time that fit better. I put them on with some trepidation but wouldn't go back to non SPD's.
