My wages are now in the bank and I have been looking forward to getting my first pair of Spd shoes for my cannondale bike. I had spotted a pair of specialised Spd shoes in Evans for around 70 notes. I see wiggle have a sale on at the moment. Anyone got any recommendations for me or anything to avoid. I will need to do a bit of walking in these shoes

I use Shimano MT22 - they're not so expensive and fine for a bit of walking. I also prefer traditional laces to velcro.

You'll need to try several pairs as I found the sizing between manufacturers/brands can vary considerably. I've been very happy with my Specialized ones - they have the 'ratchet' adjustment mechanism which allows you to make small adjustments easily whilst on the bike.

I use Northwave shoes. They have a similar ratchet system to the one mentioned by Ross above but with an added "one step" release button so you can back up one step at a time on the ratchet. So far I've found them very comfortable particularly on long rides although I do sometimes suffer from "hot foot"
