hey just got a new road bike and was looking at getting some SPD pedals and obv shoes, saw some shimano pedals in the LBS but the guy in there also recommended some Keo's but i've never heard of them...

anyone else heard of/using keo looks?

I use Look Delta - the original Looks and love them....over 15 years on them. Keo's are a little smaller, and closer to the axel ! Look invented clipless pedals.
