I think this is the problem I have. Ears are shot. A consequence of learning to play electric guitar is that I now have tinnitus. Any subtle details that might be revealed by cleaner conductors are lost in the sea of noise in my lug holes.
I can't tell the difference between my medium quality silver plated OFC interconnects and the ones that come free with a cheap CD player. I can however, tell the difference between a decent pair of speakers or amp and cheap examples.
NB. I bought the more expensive cables mainly for peace of mind. If I had not there would always be a niggling idea in my mind that I might have been able to do better.
