As from today, if you get caught by a speed camera in France, Netherlands or Belgium, you will be liable to pay the fine once you get back to the UK. On the other hand, foreign car owners speeding in the UK will still not be prosecuted. The reason being that, on the Continent, the owner of the vehicle is responsible . In the UK, the driver of the vehicle is responsible. So, be aware this summer and make sure you respect the speed limits if you drive abroad.

After having a gun pointed at my leg by a German copper while his chum checked that my papers were in ordnung, I meticulously obey all laws while abroad.

Hell, in the old days while riding our motorbikes to Berlin if you broke the speed limit (the East Germans used to measure your time between checkpoints) you got detained for speeding, if you went too slow you got detained for spying, and showing a military passport made them scrutinise you even closer. Happy days.

Bugger. I'll have to remember not to pedal quite so hard when I'm over next month.

It could also cause an interesting legal situation whereby you can prove that as the owner of the car you were not in the country where the car was caught speeding.
I wonder who's law system would have the priority ?

It's lucky the British set up the European Court of Justice after WWII to resolve exactly those sorts of conundrums.
