Speedplay don't make shoes.

I use Speedplay X exclusively. They have unlimited float, which my knees are very happy with. If you are touring or commuting, you might like the "Frogs."

Search the forums. You'll find discussions of the pros and cons. In my opinion the only con is the potential for the cleat clogging if you walk around in mud w/ the road cleats. Off the bike, I use their "cafe caps" to avoid that possibility.

Thanks. They are mainly for Sportives. I've had some knee pain which is why I was thinking of changing.

I'm using the frogs. Free float AND they are easier than SPDs to clip in and out. More expensive though.

Yes - except the ChromeMoly ones are not rust proof.

Can someone explain the difference between the Zero and Light Action? I've read the web site and can't work it out.

Zero's have adjustable float cleats so you can either have the full 15 degrees of float or adjust it to what suits you. LA is set float and apparently easier to click in and out, though to be honest I have both and when set up right I can't tell the difference at all.

My recommendation would be stainless steel and zero, though if you're not sure go for chrome moly and accept that they will start to show signs of light surface rust on the spindle at some point, this doesn't affect the use at all and I'd say it'll be many years (10+) before it weakens them, its only surface and can be cleaned off and repainted very easily
