Hi all, does anyone recommend a good sportive bike for race and comfort set up, a balance between the 2 if thats possible..
I started off on a Specialized Sectuer and was comfortable position but recently bought a cube gtc agree pro and its a little too race set up for me due to lower back problems i suffer from occasionaly.
Ive seen Giant defy bikes they look more sportive set up but I may be wrong.
Anyone help??

Yes, on the defy. You have the trek domane range too. Ribble also have sportive type bikes, as do dolan. Also got the cannondale synapse, and the cube pelotons

What's your budget?

Have you tried flipping the stem on the cube. Are the lower back problems mechanical or muscular, if the latter, stretching and core work could help, along with massage etc

Ive tried stretching it just flares up sometimes,I have thought about maybe when it gets serviced asking them if they could make it more comfortable, maybe a spacer shorter stem???

I'd try that first before dropping another grand on a bike  stretching need to do consistently. Maybe give yoga or Pilates a go too

We still don't know how much the chap wants to spend. For 2k, the carbon synapse won cycling plus bike of the year...

I have a Cube Agree GTC Pro.
It is considered a Sportive rather than Race bike. It is how you set it up.
But of course you can make it as a good excuse to buy another bike.

If he liked the secteur, could look at the roubaix if wanting carbon, but will likely get a better spec in terms of components with almost any other brand

Flipping the stem etc is as said a cheap way to try to solve your problem. I had the same issue on a Specialized Allez which I rode for a year or so before I flipped the stem which made a nice difference to comfort but still found the stiffness of the bike harsh compared to other sportive bikes I'd had a go on so eventually took the plunge and bought a Focus Izalco 3.0 ergoride which is the sportive version of their race bike and its a revelation - so comfortable and smooth, a kilo or 2 lighter than my Allez with better equipment. My averages went up on my first ride out and I put this down to just being more comfortable and relaxed on the bike.

nice thanks obvious choice is to adjust my position first then see if any better, I do like the specialized bikes though and presume the roubaix is the more relaxed position in their range ?? But they dont do the best spec compared to most for price.
