Interesting. SRAM have a history of pulling Shimanos trousers down when they're least expecting it, starting from when Shimmy went all Rapid Rise on us allowing SRAM to steal their traditional minded buyers, right up to the superb 11 speed XX of 2012. One would hope that any system would be a little tidier than the one in this wheeze though 
Based current form such a system is not likely to be a turd when it gets to market, and once again the laugh-at-SRAMs expense jokes won't sound quite so funny.
