Sram Shimano Compatibility

Could I use a Tiagra front mech with a Sram shifter? Got one spare and need a braze on front for a Sram shod bike.

Tbh I can't see many issued being apparent with a front mech I know for some cx bikes people run sram shifters with a shimano top pull front mech

Ive used sram front mec with shimano shifter

its the rear that dont mix

Fronts are pretty interchangable as they only do one function - actual distance per click my be a mm or two out but that can be absorbed by adjustment. Rear's are where the problems come as the 0.5mm on first becomes 1mm on 2nd, etc so by 10th you could be 10 / 15mm out!

Sounds good, thanks everyone. I will need to go the other way with using my Sram band on mech with a Tiagra triple as well. I will feedback how it all works in due course.

Good luck! Might be worth getting an in line barrel adjuster so sort any niggles
