Stainless steel gear cables

Other than the fact that they shouldn't corrode is there any real advantage to using stainless steel cables on a bicycle?

They don't corrode.

Don't cost any more than the other ones - just bought a set of the brake ones 'cos mine are rusting after a few dousings over the past 6 months.
