Start 'em young...?

My best friend's little boy will be 2 in December. Being the considerate auntie that I am I'd like to get the little fella on a bike asap

My understanding was that the wooden 'like-a-bike' contraptions are suitable for age 2 upwards, but I also know that they come in a range of sizes/prices etc etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations (from experience, preferably)?

The Lidl ones that appear periodically are exceptional value and do last. Like-a-bike nearly £200, Lidl look-a-like was about £30.
