Are you thinking what I'm thinking ? Really nice guys though how annoying they were with there cheesy pop records from the 70's n 80's

Other than cycling my other love is hunting for rare and obscure vinyl LP's n 12" records old or new. I purchased a crate of old records at a overpriced rate again and though oh no what have I done I need to be savvy.

Anyway there's some Status Quo in the crate. 'Dog With Two Heads LP. Gatefold. First pressing 1971' and 'On The Level LP. Gatefold. First pressing. 1975 Super De Luxe textured sleeve' and both in beautiful condition. I decided to give them a listen and was astonished in the work and how well put together the work was. Nice blues / rock n stuff with none of that pop crap they turned out month after month

Where did it go wrong with the Quo ? They could have been as legendary as Led Zeplin

Same with Jethro Tull, top in the 60's and 70's, but an awful band in the 80's. Pink Floyd in the 80's vs. their 60's or 70's LP's anyone? Fleetwood Mac in the 80's!!! Yikes.

the down side is I feel like a pompous arse the amount of times i say "well I like their early stuff!" before rubbing my chin.

Never really heard much of Fleetwood Mac though in the same crate was 'Rumours'. I first seen this album as a child in the 80's and thought how strange a album sleeve with his balls hanging out in the face of a beautiful lady lol. Ive never heard the album before until yesterday. I was a little excited putting the needle to the groove though I didnt dig it . Maybe I should give it another listen as you don't always dig a album on the first listening session.

Wow just wow. I love that kind of stuff you just posted on Fleetwood Mac and you saved me listening to 'Rumours' again I was right then it is a poor album Apart from the obvious track.

Soooo true The 80's were the decade when not only did the music die, but the assorted members of the '27 club' turned in their graves and were glad not to have to witness the carnage.

For those with an appreciation of musical irony I recommend Dread Zeppelin. Who wouldn't love Elvis singing Heartbreaker Hotel?

I liked Status Quo, mainly the earlier stuff. I had their triple album in the blue metal can and made the mistake of giving it to a woman I liked who was also a fan. She took the album but not me.
