it was an old Scott Hybrid with a big Granny .... it was only a couple hundred metres long if that ...

My road bike (Trek Madone 5.0) though has a triple and a 27 on back - nice riding big climbs (although mocked by Aussie cycling partner)

The wife's granny gear is HUGE but effective

This climb out of Kenmore is one of my favourites - and I use the term loosely. It's a real challenge. If you have the time, you can flow through the whole climb on streetview. If you're ever up this way it's well worth a visit. 1400 feet in around 3 miles.
