Currently building up an old bike and the forks I have acquired sit like this

Im guessing that the threads need to sit below the headtube? Or can you get spacers to take up the gap?
Its turning into a steep learning curve :banghead:

By the time you've got the bearings in the bottom and the top then the top race cap and all the gubbins on you should have taken up enough steerer to be able to have the threads below the point where the 2 nuts go on and lock together. Depends which head set you fit though. and wether the top cup is threaded or not.

Thanks, I haven't bought a headset yet so will bear it in mind. The aim of this is a cheap 'beater' bike so will keep an eye out on ebay.
