sti's with vee brakes

hello all, ive been looking into fitting drop bars to my hybrid does anybody know if vee brakes will work with sti levers,there seems to be differing opions on the net some say there is not enough pull on sti levers,others say they work fine ,has anybody tried this themselves and how did they get on,thankyou

the simple answer is that there isn't enough cable pull for them to work properly; but they will work a bit especially if you set the blocks very close to the rim!

STI levers don't pull enough cable.
You have to keep the blocks adjusted to within about 0.5mm of the rim, which needs an accurately true wheel and possibly adjustment for brake wear during rides. Actual braking will be more powerful than with proper V levers, but will feel spongy at the lever and be pretty abrupt.

Swap the brakes for cantilevers (Tektro CR520 or CR720) or mini-V brakes. The mini-V will limit tyre size to about 28mm due to the low crossover cable
