One thing my wife suggested is using the postcards and sendingthem to the MD or CE of any company that offends with details of the incident.

What postcards?

I have found that a short email with a video link, the majority of the time seems to get a response....if that doesn't, any postal letters tend not to get any interest either.

It would seem that SMIDSY isn't the legal armour some drivers might wish...

But his excuse didn’t wash with the court, District Judge Ken Sheraton saying "even if that was the case, he should have been aware of any obstruction to his view and should have taken the time to accommodate any obstruction."

Good point....and it was a Police Seargant ffs,not WVM.

And this has been said time and time again. Its as bad as saying "I'm going to pull out, but I have my eyes closed so it isnt my fault"

The guy was an advanced Police driver, trained to assess hazards at speed and failed massively in his duty to assess those hazards that say.

Have to agree with the comment about £500 + 5 points not being proportionate.

Battery, which although must be premeditated, carries a maximum of 6 months in prison and/or a £2000 fine. To be charged with battery you need to cause bruising.

To cause the victim to need several stitches and leave a scar... why a mere slap on the wrist! And that's because you are such a well trained professional driver.

Tch.
