Much to my surprise some of the brine I put down earlier is totally and utterly bone dry. This should be quite good for tomorrow morning as I reckon a good patch of the road will be thawed out by tomorrow evening.

One of my neighbours was cleaning her car earlier, creating a lovely sheet of ice down and across our hill  In spite of living through 60 odd winters it hadn't crossed her mind that this would happen ;)

Oh well this is just another opportunity to moan about my gratuitously noisy neighbours. They are clearing the small path from their front garden to their gate by scraping it very noisily, rather than applying salt/sand to it quietly. They're perfectly entitled to do it, of course, but the limits of my tolerance are low because:
1. I'm trying to work
2. They kept me up all night slamming doors and I'm finding it difficult to concentrate because I'm so tired.
3. They have two uncontrollable dogs which they never walk and who bark all the time
4. They hoover at midnight on regular occasions.
5. They have one screaming child and are about to have another.

They just can't seem to do anything quietly.
Phew. That's better.

Breath Kirstie, breath!

One thing I saw a few days ago was someone clearing their drive & simply throwing all the snow/ice into the middle of the road ;)

Not quite cleaning the drive as lack of.

I was stuck in traffic this afternoon and watched as a woman decided that this was the ideal time to take her car out for a drive.
The car looked as if it had been parked at the side of the road and not touched since the first snow fall.
She scraped a bit off the windscreen, got in, full right lock and pulled out. Her car managed to get half way out as it was sitting on a nice clean car shaped patch of tarmac and then got stuck on the big pile of dirty snow that was next to her car.

The look on her face was one of total surprise that she was stuck. She didn't even appear to be aware that her car was now blocking the road as she got out and kicked at some of the snow as if it would help.
