Strava on IPhone and Garmin

I went for a ride with a mate yesterday he had an iphone i have a Garmin edge 500,when we uploaded our rides to Strava in certain segments the info was very different..e.g on a certain segment i started at the same time as him and finished 200yds in front yet he apparently was 4 sec faster than me, is this possible or am i just imagining it

Strava has something along the lines of not having to complete a whole segment, just most of it. Add to that the fact that the iphone is much less accurate than the garmin, and only records every 3 seconds (my iphone 3s at least) rather than every second and you could find your friends missing time.

As above, depends on the accuracy, the recording intervals, and in some cases where there is file compression.

The other factor is how your Garmin is set up, do you have auto wheel size on? That was truly awful on the 705 at one point it was making my commute shorter and shorter and me slower, took me ages to figure it out and when I looked it had my auto wheel size at under 1912.. Conti suggest 2110 but most websites suggest 2096 for 23mm 700c
