Street view update

I got an e-mail from elsewhere suggesting that google street view had had a significant update for Scotland. It now appears to include for the first time some of the highlands of Scotland.

The two main cities of Scotland are covered, plus the trunk road network in
Southern Scotland, large chunks of the North East, and now a large area
centred on Loch Ness.

Here are some examples:
Example 1
Example 2
Example 3
Example 4

I can now follow my full commute on streetview, no need to cycle! ;)

They've updated it a little bit outside the M25 towards Woking too....

I SHOULD of been on street view here:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&s...=qBEQQmhX6fcsT3evAMP7vQ&cbp=11,288.53,,0,6.32

There should of been about 20 cyclists in the car park, as we got passed by the street view car. They obviously saw our mugs and decided to go out again . Quite annoying, as I've been waiting patiently the past year to see myself on street view ;)

Yes, this was over a week ago. Not much of the UK was done unfortunately mostly trunk roads but a few cool places. Denmark and Sweden were the main beneficiaries.

I feel the same.

Before the London one went live, I found myself riding behind one of the cars. It was going very slowly so obviously recording, so was very excited at the prospect of being on Streetview.
But when it went live, I was no-where to be seen.

Perhaps I broke the camera when I smiled

There wasn't any street view 7 years ago. Are you thinking about the aerial maps?

The aerial map at my old house has just been updated. I can see what looks like 4 people in the garden..... I can't quite work out which one is me! ;)

Maybe it's taken them so long to get around to it because they have to wait for nice weather? ;)

I think they have the UK data just since March 2009 they've concentrated on other places - Italy, Spain, Czech Rep, France, Sweden, Denmark etc have had all massive updates. There was a rumour last year that there was going to be a very large UK update around September which didn't happen. I don't know why this is but hopefully this update means there will be more coming soon.

I thought I remembered where I was when I saw the van and they have just added that part of Bristol but I can't find myself.

the point is their is no street view, the aerial map is ages old, and the google car with cam was up and down our road last year.

In fairness to google some of the other sites before them that had aerial pics that were much lower quality, much, much lower quality and I had a laugh once on one of them where it was believed some of the dates was circa mid 90s.

Some of the trike updates from the other week are a bit weird like Malham Tarn and Clumber Park (both in the north of England) where they've only added tiny bits of (quite useful) data. I hope there's a lot more trike to come.
