Strokes

Trivial I now but after looking at a few rides on my Garmin Connect, I've noticed they now have a field titled 'strokes'. Now, given the fact no other form of stroking took place on my ride yesterday, I can only assume this is related to pedal strokes (I have a cadence sensor) so I have a trivial question for you: I rode 118.3 miles on a fixed gear bike and achieved 34,186 strokes so; how many do you think the guy with me did on his geared bike?

If the field is not related to pedal strokes, apologies and please educate me...
