Still annoyed with myself for this one :cursing: . coming up a hill, queuing traffic at lights, large artic in the cycle lane. I mounted the empty pavement and slowed down to carry on up the hill and turn left (as I often do there).

What I failed to see, was the gap the lorry had left in front to let someone into the KwikFit I was crossing the entrance of  . Car came at the gap just as I was (luckily) clearing it. Missed me by an inch, tops.

Very annoyed of my lack of focus, although very relieved obviously to have gotten away with it. I should have anticipated the gap, even though the driver should make sure it was clear (hard to do with the lorry there). I was too focused on feeling good and fast on the bike this morning and being in the zone. Proved to me, yet again, that commuting is no place for that kind of riding.

Watch for gaps in traffic and keep safe!

Learn.

Don't even do any pavement sh1te with trucks.

Also leave pavements alone.

You're right, of course.

But it's a terribly tempting quick hop to bypass 10 cars on the slow lights to turn safely left. The trouble is its a pretty hairy left turn on the road so no one, ever uses the road if on 2 wheels as the cycle lane is always full of cars due to the rubbish layout.

It is....... try the 'outside' lane filter, that really is scary for..'oncoming traffic'. !
