RIP

I always meant to read the Adrian Mole books as so many people recommended them to me as a teenager as they were very popular at the time but I never got around to it.

Very Sad to hear this... read most of her books not just the 'Mole' books she had a rare talent for mixing Irony and true belly-laugh humour

One of her lesser known books was 'Rebuilding Coventry' and is an overlooked gem....

She had I believe been blind for many years and dictated her later books to her Husband

R.I.P Sue

I only ever read the first Mole book, but hearing the accolades this morning, she sounds a wonderful person, and I might just well investigate her writing a bit more.
Try some of the non Mole books especially the one I listed above written around the time of the original Mole books

Sad. Adrian Mole was a great creation. I remember when he painted his entire bedroom black in a fit of angsty teenage rebellion, then a couple of days later decided maybe it hadn't been his best idea. It was a bit....depressing.

Yes but he had go over all the Bells on Noddy's hat with a marker pen though.... classic

I loved the way she combined Social Drama (1960's kitchen-sink type) with true humour..... something J.K Rowling tried to achieve in 'The Casual Vacancy' but failed (imo)
