A reader's letter was printed yesterday:
Cyclists pay nothing towards the upkeep of the roads but constantly complain about the state of them, consider themselves above the law - ignoring traffic lightsand one-way streets - do not show courtesy to fellow road users, behave recklessly and then blame others for their misfortunes. Now they don't want to wear helmets on the dubious grounds that "a pedestrian walking a mile is more likely to die in a road accident than a cyclist".
It is time the traffic laws were enforced on all road users, not just those that can be squeezed by the exchequer.
I assume somebody at the Sunday Times has a cheeky sense of humour and wants to start a war of words. If not, the publication of the above is staggeringly ill-informed, especially when you consider it appeared in the "driving" section. But then, they do refer to "road tax" every week. Hmm.
